Konica Minolta Production Printing Roadshows with the theme - Discover Innovative Print Solutions with Our Pros

Konica Minolta organizes a series of Production Printing (PP) Roadshows with the theme - Discover Innovative Print Solutions with Our Pros in 3 locations which are Penang, Johor Bharu & Kota Kinabalu. The first PP roadshow was held at the Northam All Suite, Hall 1 & 2, Level 3, 55, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Georgetown, Penang from 11 to 12 September 2013.

These roadshows provide a platform for print production owners to discover new business opportunities with innovative digital print solutions or business model which include transaction printing, web2flow and photo book. Konica Minolta also invited our business partners to share new business ideas with potential digital printer owners on how to maximize their digital technology investments and grow their business.

For transaction printing, we have Mr Hor Yew Jin, Senior Vice President, Data Cohorts Sdn Bhd to share his thoughts and business model in this area. He started the digital business in year 2006. He purchased the first Konica Minolta Digital Production Machine bizhub 1050 to complement their existing business. “It was a profitable business but competition was intensive,” said Yew Jin. Transaction print is the highest digital print volume in the market today. For many organizations, transaction documents such as account statements, policies and invoices are the backbone of the business. They bring in revenue and keep the company in touch with customers and suppliers. This is one of the new business opportunities in today market.

On the other hand, Mr Lee Soon Hoe, Business Development Manager, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd shared with us the trend of Web2Flows. “There are a lot of web2print application involved for online editing, online submission and etc. Thus, Konica Minolta creates our own web2print application, which is Web2Flows to help customers ‘Going Beyond Web2Print Solution’”.

“Web2Print in the market are more emphasizing on StoreFront, as per Web2Flows we are more emphasizing on backend process,“ said Soon Hoe. The outstanding features of Web2Flows are its ability to receive and process real-time web submissions of the users' own artwork in native ai/pdf files. This is a stark contrast from the standard web-to-print solution where the users can only submit limited design templates.

Furthermore withWeb2Flows, administrators will also be able to trace KPI (Key Performance Index) of employees to ensure more job orders are being carried out. These advanced features were concisely demonstrated by Web2Flows solution specialists with real-time job processes via a walk-through tunnel.

In another aspect, many people like to create custom photo books online. Using very simple software, anyone can create a beautiful book of his or her personal memories. “This would include digital & inkjet printing, high end digital cut for packaging and the latest trend of photo book,” said Mr KC Ooi, Managing Director, Dot To Dot Digital Image Sdn Bhd.

He shared with the participants on his experiences and solutions which help entrepreneurs who wish to expand or invest in digital photo book to flourish their business.

To complete the end to end photo book business, we glad to have Mr Vincent Kusuma, Founder, Book & Story and Hocus Pocus Photography who started his own business of photo book-making in year 2009.

Before Vincent started Book Book & Story, he was outsourcing his own photo books printing but found the print quality and turnaround time to be below his expectations. He resolved this by implementing the Konica Minolta bizhub PRO 65hc digital production system that gave him full control of photo book production with spectacular and natural colours results. Today Book & Story enjoys a robust annual growth of 100% for the past two years and has tripled the size of the workforce.
